"Buster the Bus"

It is important that children learn school bus safety rules and procedures in case of an emergency.

WOSBA, The Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board use "Buster the Bus" School Bus Safety Program to teach and reinforce bus safety.  It's designed for students up to grade 3 and covers the Do's and Don'ts of:

  • Waiting for the bus
  • Crossing in front of the bus
  • Getting on the bus
  • Riding the bus
  • Exiting the bus

"Buster the Bus" is a remote-controlled school bus that sings, talks, listens and plays music. His presentation uses physical participation and verbalization of the rules and procedures to help students remember them.

Each and every day the Western Ontario School Bus Association's Operators transport 43,343 students to and from school.  Keeping those students safe, and teaching them the rules of school bus safety is a number one priority, and to help with this duty is Buster the robotic bus.

Presented, to students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 3, the Buster Safety Bus Program is a joint initiative between Thames Valley District School Board, London District Catholic School Board and W.O.S.B.A. The students learn the do's and dont's of school bus safety through role playing, questions and answers, conversation and interaction with Buster. As the JK's to 3's are learning from Buster the rest of the students are practicing School Bus Evacuations on a school bus outside.
